SUWANEE -- Get ready to go park-hopping.
This Saturday, Suwanee will host "Parker's Parks Party," a progressive dinner-style celebration taking participants to several of the city's parks for different activities throughout the day. In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the 2001 bond referendum vote that made it possible for Suwanee to acquire hundreds of acres that would later become six new parks, the overlapping events will last from 1 to 10 p.m. From 1 to 3 p.m., PlayTown Suwanee will host a cookout and reunion for the hundreds of community volunteers who helped construct the "super playground" in 2004. From 2 to 4 p.m., White Street Park will host a petting zoo. From 3 to 6 p.m., visitors will be able to fish out of the seven-acre lake at Sims Lake Park for the first time ever, and are invited to bring their own poles, bait and tackle. Fishing is typically prohibited at the park. From 4 to 6 p.m., BodyPlex will be offering tips for circuit training throughout Suwanee Creek Park and Greenway. Scouts will also be helping visitors make their own trail mix. From 6 to 10 p.m., Town Center Park will host a series of "hometown" concerts with local talents Clark King, Jordan Humphrey and Andy Velo performing.
