SUWANEE -- A Flowery Branch woman was killed while walking across a major Suwanee road Friday morning.
The vehicle of 43-year-old Catreenia Lee Pinckney broke down on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard near Tench Road about 6:30 a.m. Friday, Suwanee police spokesman Capt. Clyde Byers said. A responding police officer reportedly helped Pinckney move her car out of the road and into the median, but left after being assured the driver was going to call a towing service.
"Evidently she tried to get the vehicle going on her own," Byers said.
Police believe Pinckney made it to a nearby gas station on foot, but was struck by a vehicle on her return trip across Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. The investigation is still active, but Byers said the driver of the vehicle -- whose identity was not released -- is not expected to face any criminal charges.
"It's just one of those things where it's dark and someone's coming across the street and you don't expect it," Byers said. "It's one of those tragic things."
