NORCROSS -- A K through 8 Christian school recently received the first healthy vending machine in the metro Atlanta area from Fresh Healthy Vending.
Fresh Healthy Vending is a company that offers juices, fresh vegetables and fruits, smoothies and yogurts in its vending machines.
According to its leaders, Cornerstone Christian Academy is "taking a positive step to address the increasing childhood obesity rate and the associated emotional and physical pains that children experience."
Said Cornerstone's Headmaster Colin Creel: "I'm really excited to see a healthy snack alternative that can be provided to (children) throughout their school day."
The school received its healthy snack vending machine on Thursday with a reception by students, teachers and officials.
"We are hoping that choosing a healthy snack option for children while at school will instill in them the desire to do the same when they go home and start a pattern for them throughout the rest of their lives."
Cornerstone Christian Academy is located at 5295 Triangle Parkway N.W.
