BRASELTON -- Drivers may have to find a new route during the upcoming work to widen Friendship Road.
The Georgia Department of Transportation will hold a public information open house this week about the proposed detour around the construction zone from Intersate 985 east to Ga. Highway 211 in Hall County.
The meeting is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the gym of Friendship Elementary School, located at 4450 Friendship Road. On hand will be DOT engineers ready to discuss the project, the proposed detour routes and the potential locations for a noise wall.
"Our goal is to share information with the community about the upcoming construction project. We want you to know the status of the project, details about the detours that will occur during construction and the potential locations for the installation of noise walls," said DOT District Engineer Todd McDuffie. "Please come by and get the latest information on this widening project,"
Beginning Friday, the displays of the project will be available at the Georgia DOT Gainesville Area Office located at 2505 Athens Highway in Gainesville. Please call 770-535-5759 to make an appointment.
The plans will also be available online at the DOT website at www.dot.ga.gov. On the home page choose "Information Center" next choose "Public Outreach" and select Hall County and choose go. A list of DOT projects in that county will appear and you can select the one you'd like to view.
