Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann was named to the Sporting News' National League all-star team in a vote of major league front office executives.
Craig Kimbrel, named National League rookie of the year by the Sporting News, was selected as the NL all-star closer.
McCann, who has been picked for the All-Star Game in each of his six full seasons with Atlanta, received the Sporting News honor despite have a down year by his standards. The Duluth graduate batted .270 with 20 homers and 71 RBIs.
Kimbrel had 46 saves and was 4-3 with a 2.10 ERA in 79 games.-- From staff reports
