DULUTH -- Country music star Jamey Johnson has packed up his cowboy boots, five-gallon hat and guitar to stop by Wild Bill's for a concert Friday to play songs from his latest album "The Guitar Song."

The Alabama native has many awards and nominations under his belt, plus hits such as "In Color," "The Dollar" and "Playing the Part." He's no stranger to the limelight.

The singer-songwriter hasn't just created chart toppers for himself, but has also helped other musicians with hits, including Trace Adkins. Johnson helped co-write "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk," "Ladies Love Country Boys" and "I Got My Game On," all of which hit high on the Country Music Billboard charts.

"Everything comes from God. So when I write, it is my gift to Him," he said. "It is my interpretation of what He gave me, the circumstances that I drew the material from."

While on tour, Johnson is also working on many other major projects. He is currently working with ZZ Top on a tribute album and producing a group called the Blind Boys of Alabama. He was also featured on Billy Ray Cyrus' "I'm American" and Randy Travis' "Anniversary Celebration," both were released earlier this year.

"All I ever wanted was to get to just ride around and sing country music," he said. "It's cool when things happen along the way, because those are things I never thought I could achieve."

Johnson takes the stage at 9:30 p.m.
