BREAKDOWN: Meadowcreek at Mountain View

Meadowcreek Mustangs (7-AAAAA)

Coach: Deario Grimmage

Record: 0-8, 0-5 region

Last week: Lost to Norcross 48-21

Mountain View Bears (7-AAAAA)

Coach: Tim Hardy

Record: 2-6, 1-4 region

Last week: Lost to Collins Hill 34-10

Though they lost last week, the Mustangs had plenty of positives from their game with Norcross. For starters, quarterback Ridwan Issahaku and the offense scored 21 points -- the unit put up only 20 points total in its first seven games.

"We got some points on the board last week, so that was a boost for the kids," Meadowcreek head coach Deario Grimmage said. "They came out of that game feeling good about themselves."

Kaleb Ross, Chandler McCoy, Rayquan Sam and Ryan Moore also played well last week entering the game with Mountain View, which barely beat the Mustangs by a touchdown in 2010.

"We treat Mountain View like any other Gwinnett school, their coaches are doing a great job," Grimmage said. "The thing you notice is that they're in the weight room. You can tell by their build. It's a better Mountain View team than last year."

The Bears, who have gotten physical play along the line all season from Cameron Tootle, have made positive strides in their second season of region competition. They still have slim playoff hopes, but need to finish the season with back-to-back wins.

"We have more players (this year) who are playing at the high level they need to play at in terms of intensity, focus, those things," Mountain View head coach Tim Hardy said. "We need to continue to get better and get more physical in the offseason."

Hardy's team played Collins Hill tough last week, but a series of miscues turned the game in the Eagles' favor.

"We played good for awhile, but we had way too many self-inflicted errors," Hardy said. "We had turnovers and defensive mistakes that opened up opportunities for Collins Hill. And like good teams do, Collins Hill took advantage of those."

Last meeting: Mountain View won 10-3 last year
