Shiloh snapped its five-game losing streak with a win over Berkmar last week. Now the Generals are trying to finish the season with a winning streak. Shiloh hosts Central Gwinnett, which is riding a five-game losing streak, and has a bye the final week of the regular season.
"They are athletic and have more size than what you think," Central Gwinnett head coach Todd Wofford said. "It's the last game for them, so they'll probably throw the kitchen sink."
Marnez Ogletree had three interceptions in last week's win to go along with Vanderbilt commitment Stephen Weatherly's nine tackles, two and a half sacks and a forced fumble. Tyler Claytor added nine tackles and Davon Perrin had seven, while Phillip Trochek returned a fumbled 53 yards for a TD. The strong defensive performance complimented an offense that had Brandon Wise rush for 180 yards and three touchdowns, while Justin Martin rushed for 83 yards and two TDs and Clayton Smith had two TD catches.
After starting 3-0, Central has lost five in a row and three of the losses have been by eight points or less. The defense has allowed 47.6 points a game during that span.
"Our goal is to go out and play smarter than we've played and just execute," Wofford said. "We had the bye and are excited to play another week."
While the defense as a whole has struggled at times, Wofford has been pleased with defensive lineman John Hawkins.
"He's been one of our most consistent defensive linemen all year," Wofford said.
Central Gwinnett's Malachi Jones is the county's leading receiver with 67 catches for 872 yards and 12 TDs.
Last meeting: Central Gwinnett won 51-27 last year
