Gwinnett County Public Library celebrates 'Gone with the Wind'

LAWRENCEVILLE -- On Thursday evening, the Gwinnett County Public Library is celebrating the 75th anniversary of Margaret Mitchell's "Gone with the Wind," originally published in 1936. Guest speaker and author Marianne Walker will talk about her historical book "Margaret Mitchell and John Marsh: The Love Story Behind Gone with the Wind" and sign copies at the Collins Hill Branch.

Mitchell's Pulitzer Prize winning novel is about a daughter of a well-to-do plantation owner, Scarlett O'Hara, who is trying to bring herself out of poverty after General William Sherman and his Union Army marched from Atlanta to Savannah burning everything in sight.

Walker will discuss the relationship between Mitchell and her husband, John Marsh and how it influenced the creation of the romantic Southern novel.

The event is free and open to the public.
