Mrs. Joan Blackmon Flowers, born July 24, 1931, of Snellville, formerly of Montgomery, Alabama, passed on October 23, 2011. She was preceded into death by her husband Morris D. Flowers and son Richard T. Flowers. Mrs. Flowers is survived by her children Bill Flowers and his wife Debbie of Lavonia, Donna Flowers of Hoschton, Elizabeth Flowers of Snellville and Michael Flowers and his wife Vicky of Dacula. She was blessed to have seven grandchildren, known to her as Granny, Rich Flowers and his wife Victoria, Krista Flowers, Justin Flowers and his wife Christen, Michelle Brown and her husband Andon, Marylynn Montano and her husband Brian, Kayla Flowers and Myka Flowers. Her greatest blessing was to have known that because of her life eleven great-grandchildren are now part of God's creation, known also to them as Granny: Drew, Kate, Emma, Leah, Reece, Cole, Brie, Keller, A. J., Samantha, and Anderson. Joan's immediate family, extended family and friends are proud to know that she was part of and a contributor to the "Greatest Generation." Our Mother and our Granny lived in a time with which all other times envy. A life spent in a career of giving to home, community, and country as a mother working to fill the duties of motherhood to the lives of her children. Being a Mother and a Wife, she never gave in to the frailties of being human. She was always present, always sacrificial to the start of a better tomorrow. It will be our cherished memories of loves and losses that soften the years and bring our truest nature to God. Our Mother and our Granny will be missed. A memorial service is not scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.wagesfuneralhome.com. Tom M.
