LAWRENCEVILLE -- The City of Lawrenceville is hosting a Chalk Walk and Art Frolic on Oct. 29 in Honest Alley Garden across from the Visitor's Center on Crogan Street.
What does that mean? Local residents have a chance to enter a chalk sidewalk competition and anyone is allowed to join. It costs $20 per person, which includes chalk and space to create concrete masterpieces.
There is a cash prize for first, second and third place, and a portion of the proceeds goes to ArtWorks! Gwinnett.
"We are looking forward to meeting members of the community at the Chalk Walk," Sally Corbett said, executive director of ArtWorks! Gwinnett. "We hope that this is the first of many events that we can get involved with in Gwinnett."
The competition begins at 10 a.m. and all drawings need to be completed by 2 p.m. when the judges come by to analyze the works. Winners will be announced at 4 p.m.
For those who would just like to watch the competitors and take in the artistic beauty, they can "frolic" through Honest Alley. There will be an art exhibition displaying mixed media and photography from local artists, including Dave Morrison of DBM Photography from Lawrenceville.
Anyone interested in participating in the competition or would like to display their art in the exhibition should email email@example.com for more information.
