Pure Taqueria
3108 Main St., Duluth
770-609-2630
puretaqueria.com/duluth Open since: October
Location: In downtown Duluth on the corner of Main Street and Duluth Highway
Hours: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily
Owners: Chris and Michele Sedgwick
General manager: Brian Kibler
Atmosphere: When you first walk in the door, you will notice how open the small restaurant is with three walls of glass garage doors, which they raise when the weather is nice.
The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and history of the restaurant -- impressive since they've only been open for a few weeks. They will help you with any question you could have, especially since part of the menu is in Spanish.
The chairs are a variety of vibrant colors that match the equally colorful tiles on the kitchen wall. The decor is simple, but vintage. It looks like someone went to an antiques shop, found fun knickknacks (gas pumps, refrigerators, storage boxes, etc.), gave each piece a face-lift and placed them around the restaurant.
There is also a veranda for guests to sit outside. It's the perfect spot to watch people as they walk up and down Main Street.
Menu: Pure Taqueria offers authentic Mexican food and they don't skimp on fresh products. They make everything from scratch, including the sauces. Tacos are served on corn tortillas, the quesadillas are made with corn masa -- not the Americanized flour tortillas -- and it even serves chilaquiles during brunch, which is a traditional Mexican breakfast made of tortilla chips, sauce and meat.
The tequila bar is another treasure to behold. Currently, Pure Taqueria carry more than 100 different tequilas (everything from blanco to resposado to anejo) and are planning to add more to the list. Tequila lovers have an opportunity to try new brands each visit. There is also a margarita list for those who can't make up their mind and are offered on the rocks or frozen.
For those watching what they eat, Pure Taqueria has a gluten free menu. You just have to ask your server about it.
Things you might not know: Michele Sedgwick hand selects all of the music played in each location. They all have different playlists.

Your writer forgot to include in the "review" that the place is heavy on price and light on spice. Best to avoid this one. It's great the owner picks the music but they play it to darn loud. It's like a club not a Mexican resturaunt. El Porton is right down the road from this place...Drive a little more, you will be glad you did.
