John Pascal (J.P.) Wallis, age 90 of Grayson, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2011 after a 20 month heart related illness. Wallis and Florence (Duncan) Wallis, sister: Wreatha Wallis, brother and sister-in-law: Edgar and Jane (West) Wallis; sister and brother-in-law: Ruth (Wallis) and Winfred Pruitt; sister-in-laws: Evelyn (Wright) Wallis and Annette (Masters) Wallis, brothers-in-laws: Vance Patton, Ellis Patton, Gus Hamrick, brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Johnny and Ruby Lee (Young) Patton. Survivors include his Daughter and Son-in-law: Juanita (Wallis) and William Roy (Billy) Dewberry. Grayson; Grandsons: Steve Everett and Stan Everett; Brother: Roy D. Wallis, Monroe; Brother and Sister-in-law: Marvin L. and Irene (Byler) Wallis, Bethlehem; Sisters-in-law: Lorraine (Rooks) Patton, Grayson; Robbie Nell (Patton) Hamrick, Dalton (formerly of Duluth) and many Nieces and nephews. Mr. Wallis was a life-long native of Gwinnett County and was born on what is now known as Wallace Road in Buford, Georgia. During his youth his family farmed in the areas of Hog Mountain (Ivy Creek) and New Hope Road. He attended Zions Hill School. Mr. Wallis served in the US Army during WWII, 100th Infantry Division, 325th Engineer Battalion. After his tour of duty in the military he returned to the farm in Grayson that he and his wife purchased prior to his military departure and remained on that farm until his death. For many years he farmed, grew chickens for commercial use and raised registered cattle. In addition he worked in residential home construction and in 1991 retired from Gwinnett County as a residential building inspector. After his retirement he enjoyed the fellowship of his breakfast friends in Lawrenceville, his Friday night dinner friends, working around the farm raising cows and gardening. Family will receive friends from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Friday, October 21, 2011 at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 300 Simonton Road, SW, Lawrenceville, GA 30046. 770-962-3100.
