A.J. Davis, a standout on back-to-back state championship teams, has withdrawn from Greater Atlanta Christian, the school he helped to those titles in 2010 and 2011.

The 6-foot-7, 185-pound forward withdrew from the Norcross private school on Wednesday, and A.J.'s father Antonio, a longtime NBA player, said Thursday afternoon that the family hadn't decided on a new school for his son yet. Speculation had A.J. transferring to Buford, where his twin sister Kaela plays, but Buford officials said Thursday that Davis hasn't enrolled at the school.

Davis was a key reserve as a GAC freshman, playing key minutes for the Spartans' 32-1, Class AA championship team. He played a much larger role last season as a sophomore, helping the Spartans to another state title in AA. He averaged 12.5 points and 6.8 rebounds last season, ranking second on the team in both categories to the Daily Post's two-time player of the year and current Virginia Cavalier, Malcolm Brogdon (25.7 ppg, 12.9 rpg).

With Brogdon gone, along with the graduation of point guard Paul Dawson, Davis was expected to be a go-to player for GAC this season. The Spartans now will lean more heavily on newcomer Delano Spencer, a Parkview transfer who is currently starting at quarterback for GAC's football team.

Davis' younger sister, Kaela, played for a Class AAAAA title team at Norcross as a freshman, then transferred to Buford as a sophomore, winning another title. A Tennessee commitment, she also attended GAC as a middle-schooler.

Are you sure that A.J. Davis is transferring to Buford or is he comtemplating a move to the Oak Hill Academy in Virginia to position himself for an NBA career?
