Mountain View Bears (7-AAAAA)
Coach: Tim Hardy
Record: 2-5, 1-3 region
Last week: Lost to North Gwinnett 35-7
Collins Hill Eagles (7-AAAAA)nCoach: Kevin Reach
Record: 3-4, 2-2 region
Last week: Beat Meadowcreek 35-32
Their overall records aren't pretty, but both of these teams are alive and well in the 7-AAAAA playoff chase. But both need a victory today to remain that way.
"This is big, absolutely," Mountain View head coach Tim Hardy said. "We're at a point where we really can't give up many at all."
Wins in two of the last three games would put Collins Hill in good shape, and one of those is a matchup with winless Meadowcreek before a season finale with Norcross. But getting the first win over Mountain View is far from a lock.
"One thing we're not doing is taking anybody lightly," Collins Hill head coach Kevin Reach said. "We know Mountain View has a good football team."
The Bears, whose upset of Mill Creek kept them in the playoff race, hung close with region unbeaten North for much of the game last week. They did it without starting fullback Eddie West, who returns from an injury this week. Two-way starter Frederick Hill played well and continues to be a spark for the third-year program.
Collins Hill is coming off a huge victory, 35-32 over Mill Creek. The Eagles were down 19-7 at the half, regained the lead and lost it again when Mill Creek scored with 1:40 left. But Brett Sheehan led a game-winning drive that concluded when he hit playmaker Nick England for a 21-yard TD pass with only eight seconds left.
Last meeting: Collins Hill won 24-0 last year
