Hebron Lions (non-region)
Coach: Sal Battaglia
Last week: Did not play
North Cobb Christian Eagles (non-region)
Coach: Harry Miles
Last week: Lost to Lakeview Academy 49-21
After having an off week to heal up bumps and bruises, the Lions got another boost with the news earlier this week they had been awarded a forfeit win in their Sept. 9 game against Athens Christian, which was ruled as having used an ineligible player by the Georgia High School Association. With the chance at a .500 season now possible, Hebron hopes to continue the positive feelings Friday against a North Cobb Christian team that has not only lost six straight, but given up an average of 51 points per game in those losses -- including 82 alone in an Oct. 7 loss to Glacock County.
But Hebron coach Sal Battaglia is still wary of the Eagles.
"We're not taking them for granted," Battaglia said. "They are a bit unpredictable, other than the fact they're going to throw the ball if the quarterback and their receivers get some space. Hopefully, we can put up some points, too."
Indeed, the Lions may need to put up some points as NCCS has a capable offense, led by quarterback Alex Ho-on (88-205-9, 1,357 yards, 13 TDs) and receivers Corey Harris (31-478, 5 TDs) and Reggie Pruitt (20-459, 7 TDs). So a strong effort from both lines of scrimmage -- led by senior Mac Norris -- will be needed to help put pressure on Ho-on, while protecting Hebron QB Lew Stephens and opening up holes for running back Xavier Railey.
Last meeting: Hebron won 47-13 last year
