ATLANTA -- The final defendant in a large-scale theft ring -- one that affected a Lawrenceville nail salon and included multiple suspects from Gwinnett County -- was arrested and arraigned in federal court Monday.

Steven Michael Jackson, 27, of Atlanta was charged Monday with conspiracy, access device fraud and aggravated identity theft. He was the last of 11 defendants to be arrested in connection with the ring that "skimmed" credit card and account information of customers at restaurants in Columbus and Atlanta and at Polished Nail Salon in Lawrenceville.

Between June 2009 and November 2010, the suspects reportedly used skimmers to copy account information before transferring that information to other plastic cards or gift cards. The defendants allegedly used these cards "to purchase things of value," including postage stamps, according to the Department of Justice.

The 11 defendants -- including 32-year-old Norman Uriah Simmonds of Lilburn and 19-year-old Vanessa Echeverry of Lawrenceville -- were originally charged in a federal indictment in August. Two from Columbus have since pleaded guilty to "certain charges" in the indictment.
