Grayson video on Brookwood revving up rivalry

GRAYSON — The two teams won't meet in varsity football until Oct. 28, but the Brookwood-Grayson rivalry is already ramping up thanks to social media.

Three young rappers, clearly Grayson fans, have created a video, entitled "Brookwood Where You At?", that has gone viral to the tune of 42,000-plus YouTube hits as of Tuesday evening. The artists, who make appearances on both the Brookwood and Grayson campuses, take shots at the rival Broncos.

Grayson star football players Robert Nkemdiche and Nick Schuessler also make appearances in the production.

The two schools have battled it out for Region 8-AAAAA titles in recent seasons, with the Broncos' 10-0 victory last season leading to region and state championships. Grayson won the rivalry game in 2008 and 2009, but Brookwood has won five of the seven all-time meetings.

I am a Brookwood grad, class of 1994. I have enjoyed the talented young men and women who put this together. The production and the talent has brought a new level of friendly rivalry to football. Even though it is against my Alma Mater, it is a wonderful and classy way to spar completion. I hope my fellow Broncos can keep the civility and this is just a new way of “stealing the other school’s mascot.” Good job, gentlemen!
