Mrs. Joy King Morgan, age 81, of Buford, GA passed away on October 12, 2011. She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Handsel Morgan, Sr., and by three children, daughter, Ann Morgan Kaser, of Atlanta, GA; son, Handsel Morgan, Jr., of Buford, GA, and son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Darcy Morgan, of Buford, GA, and by four grandchildren, Lois Morgan, Taylor Morgan, Leah Morgan, and Samuel Morgan, all of Buford, GA. Mrs. Morgan was born in Gwinnett County, Georgia, on October 6, 1930 and graduated from Buford High School in 1947. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Luna Cronic King, and her brothers, Jack King and Jerry King. She was a long-time member of the Buford First United Methodist Church, active in children’s and women’s programs, serving as Women’s Circle leader and general president of the Women’s Society of Christian Service. She was proud to have headed the creation of the first church directory. She was also active in civic affairs, serving as president of the Buford Junior Women’s Club. She was known for her creative and artistic talents, winning a McCall’s Magazine award for Christmas ornament design. She was also an award-winning seamstress. Ill heath limited her activities in her later years. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Home with Rev. Tim Morgan, Rev. Sondra Jones and Rev. DeDe Leetch officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, Ga.
