VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Parkview survives trip to the coast

SAVANNAH -- Parkview went down to Savannah to knock off Beach 25-18, 25-13, 24-26, 26-24 Thursday in the first round of the state playoffs. Daron Blankenship led the Panthers (18-25, No. 3 Area 8) with 11 aces and 26 digs. Riley Weyher added three aces, seven kills and 20 digs.

Courtney Duck finished with 12 kills, while Victoria Petrassi had 32 assists and a pair of aces. Parkview will face East Coweta or Woodstock on Tuesday in the second round of the AAAAA playoffs.

Peachtree Ridge loses in fifth game

CUMMING -- Peachtree Ridge came up short in the first round of the state playoffs, losing a five-set match to West Forsyth 25-13, 25-13, 23-25, 19-25, 15-6. Lucy Riddle had 21 assists, nine kills and a block to lead the Lions (31-15, No. 3 Area 7). Elenoria Porazzi added 19 kills.

Norcross swept by Roswell

ROSWELL -- Norcross' season ended Thursday with a three-game loss to No. 7 Roswell in the first round of the state playoffs. The Hornets took down the Blue Devils 25-21, 25-14, 25-10. Nicki White led Norcross (19-20, No. 4 Area 7) with nine kills. Lauren Ranney added 17 assists, while Kamilah Bakari had six kills and two blocks.-- Compiled by Jay BlackTo report scores, call 770-339-5850.
