Last week: Beat Decatur 69-31

Clarkston gave up 71 points last week and GAC scored 69. That's not a good outlook for the visiting Angoras, whose only win was 7-6 over Therrell in the opener.

The Spartans got off to a slow start against Decatur, falling behind early after giving up 22 first-quarter points, so they're hopeful of improvements early in a homecoming matchup with Clarkston.

"We didn't start well because we didn't play well," GAC head coach Tim Cokely said. "But we've learned, just because of the type of games we've played, that you just have to hang in there. Then once we got our balance last week, we were OK."

The offense continued to put up huge numbers in the Decatur win. Running back Lavondre Nelson had just seven carries, but tallied 147 yards and a TD, as well as a 65-yard TD catch. Quarterback Delano Spencer accounted for four scores and fellow QB David McTier added two more TDs. Kyle Scales added a 54-yard TD reception, while all those skill guys benefited from an excellent effort up front, led by linemen Grant Bell (86 percent blocking grade, six pancake blocks) and Tate Cooksey (86 percent grade, five pancakes). Andrew Bartolomei also graded 85 percent on the offensive line, in addition to making 10 tackles on defense. DaSean Daniels (seven tackles, interception, rushing TD on offense) and Tony Jones Jr. (four tackles, sack, punt block) both stood out in last week's win as well.

Last meeting: GAC won 42-7 last year
