Mrs. Opal Peevy Parks, age 82, of Hoschton, GA and the Duncan Creek Community passed away on Monday, October 10, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. W. Parks; son, Jack W. Parks; parents, Olin and Lois Peevy; brother, Rev. Robert Peevy; sisters, Dorothy Reynolds, Sue Griffin and Barbara Emerson. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Barbara Parks, Buford, GA; daughter-in-law, Connie Parks, Hoschton, GA; grandchildren, Amy and Josh Fulmer, Ft. Benning, GA, Stephen Parks, New York, NY, Jamey and Shannon Parks and Tammy Parks, Flowery Branch, GA; great grandchildren, Avery Fulmer and Gregory and Anna Moore and Wesley and Abby Parks; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Holland Burnett, Lawrenceville, GA and Gwen and Jack Leach, Commerce, GA; sisters-in-law, Ruth Chatham Peevy, Hoschton, GA, Gussie Cooper, Fayetteville, GA and Ada Parks, Buford, GA; brother-in-law, J. W. Griffin, Buford, GA; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and beloved friend and caregiver, Barbara Higgins. Mrs. Parks was born August 31, 1929 in Lawrenceville, GA. She was a homemaker. She was a life-long member of Appalachee Baptist Church in Auburn, GA. She enjoyed traveling and being with her family and friends. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Ash and Rev. Harry Brogdon officiating. Interment will follow at Appalachee Baptist Church Cemetery in Auburn, GA. Ms. Opal was a delight. My aunt was her care giver and we loved Ms. Opal as much as if she was our own family. She will be missed. God Bless.
