SUWANEE -- An expansion of Mitsubishi Electric and Electronics USA's operations could create more than 200 local jobs over the next 10 years.
The Gwinnett County Commission could decide Oct. 25 whether to allow the rezoning of 33 acres on Satellite Boulevard, where the company has signed a lease with the developer.
It's a measure approved unanimously Oct. 4 by the Municipal-Gwinnett County Planning Commission.
According to developer Industrial Developments International's documents, the company already employs about 200 and "anticipates increasing its employment to over 400 employees over the next 10 years."
Mitsubishi currently has office and warehouse locations in Gwinnett but, according to documents submitted by IDI, "is considering a relocation and expansion of their operations."
The developer's rezoning request calls for a change from a designation of office to light industrial.
The company has been operating locally for nearly 20 years.
