LAWRENCEVILLE -- A Lawrenceville man was charged with arson Saturday after fire investigators said he set fire to a gazebo in his townhome community.
Hyon Hyok Yi, 20, was reportedly seen leaving the gazebo at the Garrison Square Townhomes at 801 Old Peachtree Road Lawrenceville Saturday. After setting a fire that caused "minimal damage," he admitted the crime to fire investigators, Gwinnett County fire department spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge said."(Yi) reportedly admitted to authorities that he used a lighter and paper to ignite the shrubs and a wooden pillar to the gazebo," Rutledge said.
Yi was taken to Gwinnett County Jail Saturday and charged with one count of first-degree arson, a felony. Jail records show he was released Sunday on $1,300 bond.
