LAWRENCEVILLE -- Two Gwinnett County residents are recipients of an award recognizing caregivers who have made an impact in the lives of breast cancer survivors.
Officials with the Atlanta Braves recently presented the Diamond of Hope Award to Gregg Moss of Grayson and Dan Mowery of Suwanee.
Mowery was nominated by his fiancee Melanie Seymour. A few months after losing his parents, Mowery became Melanie's caregiver and never left her side. Dan and Melanie are scheduled to be married Oct. 29.
Fellow Diamond of Hope Award recipient Moss was nominated by his wife, Cathy Lewis, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2009. Moss has supported her through every doctor's appointment and chemotherapy appointment while maintaining a full-time job and handling cooking and cleaning around the house.
According to its website, the award honors "community activists who have made exceptional contributions to the fight against breast cancer."
