Winder-Barrow Bulldoggs (8-AAAA)

Coach: David Wagner

Record: 0-5, 0-5 region

Last week: Lost to Habersham Central 54-10

The Bulldoggs' woes continued with last week's loss, and the task doesn't get any easier this week with the Patriots coming to town in the midst of the best start in their 36-year history.

But Winder-Barrow coach David Wagner says his team's focus remains inward, rather than being worried about the opponent.

"They're a dangerous team," Wagner said of Heritage. "They're an outstanding football team. All we can do is essentially what we can do -- just try to execute base offensive plays and our base defense and trust our reads and make plays.

"The kids are working their tails off, and at some point, something has to give."

One thing the Bulldoggs must do to have a chance is to avoid the turnovers that have plagued them in recent weeks, and which would prove especially damaging against a Heritage team that boasts explosive skill players like Quami Stanley.

So, it will fall to sophomore quarterback Christian Hodge to provide a calming influence and provide a favorable atmosphere for other playmakers like Jamonte Riden to succeed.

"We've got to make sure we don't turn the ball over," Wagner said. "We need to get the ball and sustain drives, something we struggled with (last) Friday night. We've got to make sure they earn everything they get."
