NORCROSS -- Authorities believe a pair of fatal shootings that occurred just a few miles apart early Sunday morning are not connected.
Gwinnett County police released information Tuesday evening regarding a body found at the Paces Crossing Apartments on Jimmy Carter Boulevard in unincorporated Norcross. Spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said officers responded to that scene at about 1:15 a.m. Sunday, finding the adult male victim shot multiple times and lying near the front door.
The victim, described Tuesday only as an adult male in his mid-30s, was transported to the hospital and later died from his wounds.
Less than three miles away behind the Los Tortas Locas restaurant at 6131 South Norcross-Tucker Road, another group of officers had responded about 15 minutes earlier and found another victim shot multiple times. That victim, described as a Hispanic man in his 40s, was dead at the scene and his identity not been released either.
Both cases are still under active investigation. Despite their similarities, Smith said detectives do not believe the two cases to be connected.
Anyone with information on either incident is asked to called Gwinnett police at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-557-TIPS.
