STONE MOUNTAIN -- A local foundation that supports children with cancer will host a "casino cruise" at Stone Mountain later this month.

The Amanda Riley Foundation -- named for 17-year-old Amanda Riley, a Brookwood High school student who lost her battle with cancer last April -- will hold the event from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22. Hosted aboard a riverboat, $100 tickets include dinner, dancing and play money to "gamble" on casino games like craps, blackjack and roulette.

Remaining money can then be used to buy tickets for raffled off prizes.

Amanda Riley was diagnosed with Stage IV rhabdomyosarcoma in March 2009 after doctors found a tumor in her bladder area that had metastasized into her lungs and bones. After battling cancer for 405 days, she passed away in April 2010.

The foundation named in her honor is run by her mother, Barbara. It aims to "do the small things to bring a smile" to the face of children with cancer, donating toys, games, books, blankets and more.
