Bomb squad, hazmat callout in Dacula 'nothing hazardous'

DACULA -- Bomb squad and hazmat units responded to a suspected meth lab in Dacula Tuesday afternoon before determining the home contained "nothing hazardous," officials said.

Gwinnett County police investigators were serving a search warrant at the home at 2740 Fort Daniel Road when they discovered a small amount of methamphetamine and marijuana, spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter said. They also discovered "what they thought was an old meth lab" and summoned hazardous materials and explosives teams to the scene.

"(They) determined that it was nothing hazardous," Ritter said.

One suspect was arrested on drug possession charges, Ritter said. That person's identity was not immediately released Tuesday.
