PREP ROUNDUP: Brookwood boys charge back

SNELLVILLE -- Brookwood rallied from 10 points down heading into the fourth quarter as the Broncos pulled out a 54-51 victory over Collins Hill.

Down 44-34 after the third quarter, Brookwood outscored Collins Hill 20-7 in the final eight minutes. Malcolm Hannah led the way for Brookwood (2-0) with 19 points and three assists and Jamaal Cole had 13 points, four steals and three blocks in the comeback win. Bilal Abdulla added 10 rebounds, three points and three blocks for the Broncos. Devin Mitchell led Collins Hill with 15 points and Connor Iverson added 13.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Peachtree Ridge 72, Central Gwinnett 56

DULUTH -- Jordan Capps went for a game-high 29 points as Peachtree Ridge ran past Central Gwinnett 72-56. Benny Johnson added 12 points and Brandon Jack had 10 for the Lions (2-1). Justin Mouton led Central with 14 points.

Grayson 65, Mt. View 34

LOGANVILLE -- Ryan Lisenba and Phinehas Starks each had 13 points and Joe Howard added 12 as Grayson opened its 2011-12 season with a 65-34 rout of Mountain View. Imaad Hakim led Mountain View (1-4) with seven points and Ryan Gibbs had six.

Dacula 83, Providence Christian 54

DACULA -- Jaylen Williams had 22 points as five players scored in double-figures in Dacula's 83-54 blowout win over Providence Christian. Bryson Bulong had 17, Brandon Goodson added 10 while Clyde Niba and Xavier Okoro chipped in 10 apiece for the Falcons (2-1). Nikko Cormier led Providence with 18 points and Nate Bucher added 16 for the Stars.

Greenforest Christian 63, Hebron Christian 42

DACULA -- Despite Tyler Matthews' 16 points, Hebron Christian (1-3) fell to Greenforest Christian 63-42.

Apalachee 61, East Jackson 51

WINDER -- Ron Pettis had 13 points and five rebounds to lead Apalachee to a season-opening 61-51 win over East Jackson. Cameron Blakley added 12 points, six rebounds and five blocks while Rakim Peters had nine points, eight rebounds and four assists for the Wildcats.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Mt. View 68, Grayson 32

LOGANVILLE -- Bria Virgil scored 12 points and Ty Bledsoe added 11 as Mountain View rolled to a 68-32 win over Grayson. Mountain View (4-1) put all 11 players in the scoring column in the win over Grayson (0-1).

Peachtree Ridge 49, Central Gwinnett 38

DULUTH -- Stephanie Amichia had 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead Peachtree Ridge to a 49-38 win over Central Gwinnett. Mahrie Bowman added 10 points and Lorrie Cruse had 10 points and eight rebounds for the Lions (3-1).

Parkview 48, Centennial 26

LILBURN -- Tatiana Wayne had 12 points and Vicky Harris added eight as Parkview moved to 4-0 on the season with a 48-26 victory over Centennial.

Archer 62, Walnut Grove 48

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Madison Newby had 21 points and five steals as Archer cruised to a 62-48 win over Walnut Grove. Danicka Brown added 11 points while Morgan Jackson had 13 rebounds and six points for the Tigers (2-1). Miaya Crowder led Walnut Grove (3-2) with 18 points.

Dacula 52, Providence Christian 49

DACULA -- Kendelle Culpepper poured in 19 points and Anna Machovec had 12 as Dacula (1-2) edged Providence Christian Academy 52-49. Erika Gotfredson led Providence (1-2) with a game-high 22 points and 10 rebounds and Aubrey Gold had 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Stars.

Hebron 59, Greenforest Christian 43

DACULA -- Amber Skidgel scored a game-high 34 points as Hebron Christian Academy knocked off Greenforest Christian 59-43. Taryn Higgins added 13 points and six rebounds while Hannah Lentz dished out eight assists for the Lions (5-2).

SWIMMING

Providence beats St. Francis

ROSWELL -- Providence Christian Academy's boys and girls swim teams combined for a 629-557 win over St. Francis. Nate Wright picked up a pair of first-place finishes in the 200 individual medley (2:21.16) and 100 butterfly to pace the Providence boys. Jessye Brink led the way for the girls with first-place finishes in the 200 IM (2:31.50) and 100 butterfly (1:14.73). Connor Daniel also picked up a first-place finish in the boys' 50 freestyle with a time of 28.77. Other girls' first-place finishes came from Tayler Tuttle in the 100 breaststroke (1:27.81) and 200 freestyle (2:39.50), Brittany Tuttle in the 100 freestyle (1:08.50) and 50 freestyle (29.02), and Alex Keller in the 500 freestyle (6:54.58).

WRESTLING

GAC sweeps

NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian swept three matches as the Spartans defeated Flowery Branch 51-12, Jackson County 47-15 and Meadowcreek 49-27 to improve to 14-1 on the season. Will Parker (145 pounds) and Hunter Martin (195) each won their three matches by pins. Kyle Politz (106), Caleb Bumpers (126), Ethan Tolbert (160) and Parker Fair (220) all won their three matches, including two by pins. Fair is now 14-0 this season.
