Snow could dust Gwinnett on Tuesday

LAWRENCEVILLE -- This morning commute could bring the first snow dusting of the season.

According to forecasters at the National Weather Service, temperatures will hover around freezing, turning the rain that blanketed metro Atlanta Monday into a light snow early Tuesday.

"This isn't a real snowstorm," though, said forecaster Mike Lary. "It'll look interesting, but it won't affect anything, except for people who slow down."

Lary said the pre-December dusting isn't too unusual.

But while the rain will remain throughout much of today, the weather will turn even colder once the clouds clear, he said.

Lows will remain in the 20s through much of the week, reaching the upper 30s by Monday.

Local weather enthusiast Jon Richards, who runs LawrencevilleWeather.com, said the snow may be much ado about nothing.

"I think everybody's panicking," because of last year's blizzard, he said. But noting Sunday's 73 degree temperatures, he added, "I don't think it's going to be a big deal. ... It's not even going to be terribly cold."
