Suwanee holds annual photo contest

SUWANEE -- Photographers: take your best shot for the city of Suwanee's annual photo contest, Snap Suwanee.

All Suwanee residents who are professional or amateur photographers are invited to join the competition. Judges are interested in photos within the city limits, as long as the area is recognizable, and anything goes.

"We see a variety of photos, but we get a lot of scenic photos," Lynne DeWilde, Suwanee's Public Information Officer said. "Often times there are photos of children playing in a fountain or a playground and the train is very popular, but I expect snow photos this year or pictures of the flash mob from Suwanee Day."

Other ideas are sunsets, parks, pets and anything else Suwanee specific, as long as the photo was shot in the past two years.

Approximately a dozen photos will be selected to be framed on the walls of Suwanee City Hall. Last year, 35 photographers submitted more than 114 snapshots. The new pictures will be framed and mounted by March and will stay in City Hall until next year's competition.

"We love photos of everyday life because we frequently use them publicly on our website," DeWilde said. "People in photos make them a little more interesting. No matter who takes the photo, it's always a unique perspective."

Only five high-resolution photos are allowed for submission per photographer. All photos and applications must be turned in by Dec. 31. Applications can be found at www.suwanee.com.
