ATLANTA (AP) — A Stanford University senior from Atlanta is among 32 American students named Rhodes Scholars for 2012.
The Rhodes Trust said Sunday that student Ishan Nath of Atlanta was chosen for a scholarship to study at Oxford University in England.
Nath is finishing his bachelors' degrees in economics and earth systems at Stanford, where he's also earning a minor in mathematics. His senior thesis involves clean energy and a national cap-and-trade system for power plant emissions.
Nath, who has served as an intern at the White House's office of economic policy, plans to pursue graduate studies in economics at Oxford.
Rhodes Scholarships pay expenses for two or three years of study at Oxford, with an average value of about $50,000 per year.
