ATLANTA (AP) — The U.S. Postal Service is planning a public meeting on its proposal to move mail processing operations from an Athens facility to its North Metro Processing and Distribution Center in Duluth.
The meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. Nov. 30 at Hilsman Middle School in Athens.
The Postal Service said in a statement that it has an excess of employees and equipment in some mail processing operations as mail volume has declined.
Officials said that initial results of a study support consolidating mail processing operations in Athens with the North Metro Processing and Distribution Center to increase efficiency and improve productivity.

I knew you couldn't keep paying mailmen and avg. $75,000 a yr salary for too long! Sooner or later this outfit will bust until it merges with Fedex or UPS. Funny how they manage to do it right. MAybe we should be paying mailmen a commission based on # of households they service. At least put some common sense into the pay scale, not just giveway money.
I keep forgetting that this non-government agency is controlled by Congress.
