Man, 19, convicted of killing Wrightsville man

WRIGHTSVILLE, -- A 19-year-old East Dublin man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole after he was convicted in the killing of a 41-year-old Johnson County man.

The Courier Herald reported Demarcio Williams was convicted Tuesday of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and criminal attempt to commit a felony.

Court officials say that evidence during the trial showed Williams and another individual entered the home of James Akridge on June 28, 2010, intending to rob him.

They say Williams forced the victim to get on his knees before eventually shooting Akridge in the back. Akridge was able to call 911 for help, but died on the way to the hospital.
