Mr. George Everett, age 81, of Buford, GA passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his son, Tony Everett; parents, Lee and Carrie Everett; two sisters; and five brothers. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Frances Sexton Everett, Buford, GA; daughter-in-law, Kim Price Everett and husband, David Saunders, Suwanee, GA; beloved grandson, Nick Everett; two daughters, Frances and Bob Westbrook and Kaye Everett, all of Virginia; brother-in-law, Curtis Sexton, Powder Springs, GA; two sisters-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended law enforcement friends. Mr. Everett was born May 28, 1930 in Auburn, GA. He was the last living child of Lee and Carrie Wilkerson Everett of Suwanee, GA and received his education in Suwanee, GA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War. George served as a police officer for the City of Doraville for thirty-two years and was the police chief for twenty-three years. He was a highly respected officer in the Law Enforcement Department in DeKalb County. He was of the Baptist Faith and attended Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Hoschton, GA. He was a member of the Georgia Peace Officers Association and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was an avid golfer and loved Bluegrass Music into which his family was very involved throughout the country and the Everett Music Barn in Suwanee, GA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Sammy Everett officiating. Interment will follow at Peachtree Road Baptist Church Cemetery in Suwanee, GA with military honors. All law enforcement officers are invited to serve as honorary escort. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mt.
