2011 Gwinnett Daily Post All-County Softball
Co-Players of the Year: Kallie Case, Sr., SS, Buford and Lexi Overstreet, Sr., 3B, Buford
Case, an Alabama signee, hit .496 with 8 HR and 25 RBIs, and set Buford school records with 9 triples, 51 stolen bases, 62 total hits and 64 runs scored. Overstreet, who is headed to Tennessee, hit .479 with a school-records of 18 HR and 66 RBIs. She also set new school records with a 1.128 slugging percentage and 1.705 OPS. Most importantly, the senior duo saved their best for when the Wolves needed it the most on their way to a fifth straight Class AA state title, with Case .588 with 4 HR, 7 RBIs and 7 SBs and Overstreet adding a .600 average with 5 HRs and 17 RBIs during the six games in Columbus
Co-Coaches of the Year: Nichole Dixon, Wesleyan and Paul Pierce, Collins Hill
Dixon led a very young Wolves squad to a 23-13 record, including a fine postseason run that ended with a Class A state runner-up finish. Pierce, meanwhile, with only three returning starters in his first season as head coach, guided the Eagles to their third straight Class AAAAA state title
Pitcher of the Year: Kayla Floor, Sr., Collins Hill
The Georgia State-bound right-hander fought through nagging leg injuries to lead the Eagles to their third straight state title with a 15-4 record, a 1.11 ERA, 130 strikeouts in 125 innings and four shutouts

**Bias, bias, bias......always been Collins Hill and Buford! Recognization never given to the most deserving athletes in the county. Shame on you! There are more athletes in the county besides Collins Hill and Buford.

I am sick and tired of whiney parents talking about bias. I don't have a daughter who plays softball but it was like all the Mill Creek parents who went ballistic because the paper dared to put the picture of the Collins Hill pitcher in the story when Mill Creek won. Then when Collins Hill won the title, not one Mill Creek parent had the class to post a congratulations and display sportsmanship.
Listen, we all know that Buford is a hired band of mercenaries in all sports, but all this talk of bias makes me sick.
