COLUMBUS (AP) — Columbus attorney Arthur Smith has been appointed to the Superior Court bench in the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit.
Gov. Nathan Deal's office said the governor made the choice after interviews with five finalists selected by the Judicial Nominating Commission.
Smith has worked at Aflac for 23 years and is currently the company's senior associate counsel. Prior to that he was in private practice in Columbus.
Smith will replace former Judge Doug Pullen, who resigned in September amid a judicial misconduct investigation.
The Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit includes Chattahoochee, Harris, Marion, Muscogee, Talbot, and Taylor counties.
