LETTERS: HOT lanes work well for me

With all the critical voices being heard, I feel that someone needs to voice support for the HOT lanes. The HOT lanes have reduced my commute by 20-plus minutes each way, provided predictability where I previously had none, enabled me to put my daughter on the bus at 7:30 a.m. whereas I used to have to leave for work by 6:30 to try to avoid traffic jams, improved my fuel economy by more than 20 percent, and reduced my stress because I no longer have to sit in stop-and-go traffic.

After considering my fuel savings, the HOT lane costs $1 in the morning and less in the afternoon since the only jam worth paying to avoid is at Jimmy Carter Boulevard. It is a screaming deal that values my time at roughly $3 per hour. The HOT lanes have been a huge quality of life boost for me, and all I have to sacrifice in order to pay for that is a trip through a drive-through now and then, which my body appreciates anyway.

If you need me, you can find me in the HOT lanes. Every single day.

Even a proponent of the HOT lanes has just admitted reaching the end of truly discretionary spending funds. Businesses beware, we are redistributing YOUR potential CURRENT income volume...

Just had a look at the traffic flow southbound on 85 and noticed that the HOT lanes were stopped due to an accident. No with the meter running on these lanes how much time will these drivers save and at what cost? Really not worth it when 85 is at a stand still, now is it? With the plans for more lanes to be closed around the Metro Atlanta area for the sake of the HOT lanes get ready for more of the same back ups.
