STONE MOUNTAIN -- Thanksgiving hasn't been crossed off the calendar this year, but Christmas can never return too soon for some holiday enthusiasts. Case in point: Stone Mountain's Christmas, which kicks off the festive spirit on Saturday.

Since July, employees have been hanging and stapling two million Christmas lights throughout the park.

"I think if you're trying to catch the Christmas spirit, this is the place for you," said Jeanine Jones, public relations manager Stone Mountain Park. "It's contagious -- the lights, shows, songs ... it hits your heart."

From Saturday until January, the park has a magnitude of festivities for the holidays. There are performances, music and storytelling suitable for the entire family.

Walk through the Wonderland Walkway to find Stone Mountain's iconic Snow Angel. She will be waiting for boys and girls to visit her in the Snow Angel Palace, which is guarded by her Toy Soldiers.

The new show for the season is "Toyrific!," a story about misfit toys who come together to bring back the Christmas magic that was stolen.

"I think everyone going to love (the show)," said Dena Hunt, entertainment and wardrobe manager Stone Mountain Park. "The kids will learn that everyone is different, but being who you are is perfect."

Every night, Santa Claus and his crew parade down the streets, the Snow Angel sprinkles snow dust on the crowd and fireworks are shot into the air to end the evening. Children can meet and greet St. Nick at the end of the parade and tell him everything on their wish list.

In honor of Veteran's Day, the park is offering free tickets during the opening weekend to all active and retired military employees with a valid ID. They can also receive an extra $10 off each ticket for each family member present.
