Outlook: Peachtree Ridge has reached the state tournament six straight years and will have a number of new faces as they try to extend the streak. Gone is region player of the year Corey Heyward and much of his supporting cast from last season, including second-team all-region picks Richie Everette and Moe Armistead. Benny Johnson and Brandon Jack return and transfer Jordan Capps was a regular at Meadowcreek, averaging 7.2 points per game a year ago. The other newcomers are Rawlings Okivie and 6-foot-7 sophomore Amir Warnock.

Worth noting: Peachtree Ridge went into the region tournament as the No. 1 seed last season and beat North Gwinnett in the semifinals before falling to eventual state champion Norcross in the title game. After beating Marietta in the first round, the Lions got the difficult draw of defending state champ Milton in the second round and lost 74-56. Keith Arrington is 65-22 in three seasons as the Lions' coach.

Outlook: Peachtree Ridge returns three full-time starters and several other players with experience as the Lions try to get back to the state tournament after a three-year absence. Melissa Turvy was a first-team all-region choice last season and Gabby Cole made the second team. Turvy averaged 13.3 points as a sophomore and Cole scored 12.2 as a junior. Two freshmen got regular playing time last season. Stephanie Amichia averaged 7.4 points and 7.4 rebounds, while Lorrie Cruse pulled down 5.5 rebounds per game.

Worth noting: The Lions have just three seniors on the roster and coach James Clanahan is counting on leadership from Claire Hays and Taylor Cobb as well as Cole and Turvy, who are both entering their third seasons as starters. This is also Clanahan's third year as coach. Peachtree Ridge was 14-13 in his first season.
