PARKVIEW PANTHERS
Boys
Region: 8-AAAAA
Coach: Keenan Temple
2010-11 record: 11-14
Returning regular:
Andre Chatfield, Soph., 6-5
Darius Marshall, Jr., 6-0
Others to watch:
Jordan Coleman, Sr., 5-9
Colby Smith, Sr., 6-3
Jalen Abraham, Jr., 5-11
T.J. Thomas, Soph., 6-6
Outlook: Parkview is in a rebuilding mode, but the Panthers are athletic and will continue to play an up-tempo style under coach Keenan Temple. Andre Chatfield moved into the starting lineup as a freshman a year ago and is the leading returning scorer at nine points per game. The other returning regular is Darius Marshall, who averaged five points as a sophomore last season. Senior transfer Jordan Coleman will move into the lineup and the Panthers are also counting on Jalen Abraham and T.J. Thomas, as well as football player Colby Smith, to contribute.
Worth noting: Parkview lost its leading scorer when Delano Spencer transferred to Greater Atlanta Christian. He averaged 16 points last season as a sophomore while making the all-region first team and also topped the team in scoring as a freshman with 17 points per game.

Girls
Region: 8-AAAAA
Coach: Tony Watkins
2010-11 record: 22-7
Returning regulars:
Erika Joseph, Sr., 6-1
Helena Pouengue, Sr., 5-7
Marisssa Mandledove, Jr., 5-3
Other to watch:
A.J. Jefferson, Sr., 5-9
Outlook: In addition to four-year starter Katie Carroll, the Panthers will also have to do without Mia Marshall this season. The 6-foot-2 junior tore an ACL and had to have knee surgery. That left three returning regulars, led by Erika Joseph. The Western Carolina recruit averaged 10.7 points and 7.1 rebounds last season as Parkview again advanced to the state tournament. Also returning are guards Helena Pouengue, who will play in college at Lipscomb, and junior Marissa Mandledove. Carroll, now at Belmont, was a first-team all-region pick last season, while Joseph made the second team.
Worth noting: Parkview replaced one veteran coach with another after Mike McCoy moved to Mississippi. Tony Watkins has won nearly 600 career games. He coached boys at Lanier last season after a successful stint as girls coach at North Gwinnett. McCoy had a 242-67 record in 11 seasons at Parkview and won a state title in 2003.
