Hebron Christian Lions
BOYS
Region: 8-A
Coach: Will Cantrell
2010-11 record: 5-21
Returning regulars:
Dylan Schulte, Sr., 6-3
Griffin Gambill, Sr., 6-1
Others to watch:
Tyler Matthews, Jr., 5-10
Tyler Skidgel, Jr., 6-2
Outlook: Leading scorer Jack Griffin, who averaged 12.3 points, graduated along with three other players. But returning is Dylan Schulte, who averaged 8.2 points and team-best 6.3 rebounds. He is a three-year starter. Also supplying a veteran presence will be fellow senior Griffin Gambill, another returning starter. Hebron must not only replace Griffin's scoring, but his playmaking. He led the team in assists last season.
Worth noting: The Lions have never made the state tournament since becoming a GHSA member and that remains the goal as Will Cantrell enters his second season as coach. He is the younger brother of Providence Christian baseball coach Adam Cantrell and came to Hebron last year after three seasons as an assistant basketball coach at Monroe Area.

GIRLS
Region: 8-A
Coach: Bryan Bartley
2010-11 record: 14-15
Returning regulars:
None
Players to watch:
None listed
Outlook: The Lions must completely rebuild under new coach Bryan Bartley after making the state tournament last season with a senior-dominated team. The only returning player from a year ago is sophomore Ashleigh Stanley. Six promising freshman join two seniors and two sophomores to give hope for the future. Led by Jalisa Tucker, Hebron went 10-4 during the regular season in Region 8-A play last season and qualified for a state tournament preliminary game, where the Lions defeated Holy Innocents' 44-40. Tucker had 28 points and 10 rebounds in that game.
Worth noting: Bartley was hired this summer to replace Rick Burlingame as Hebron athletics director and added the duties of girls basketball coach after volleyball coach Judy Conner had filled in last season. Bartley coached the Landmark Christian boys when Kentucky and NBA player Randolph Morris was there and served as an assistant with the Auburn men under former coach Jeff Lebo.
