Santorum scheduled for Gwinnett town hall

A second presidential hopeful has scheduled a town hall meeting in Gwinnett.

Sen. Rick Santorum is slated to appear at noon Nov. 29 at the second town hall meeting scheduled by leaders from the Georgia GOP's 7th District.

"The response to our first public forum with Newt Gingrich was tremendous," GOP 7th District Chairman Jason Thompson said of the event held last week. "Voters were excited to see a candidate for president of the United States up close and had the ability to ask questions directly to Gingrich. The forum was packed, with standing room only. We were very happy with the way the event turned out, and look forward to hosting Sen. Santorum on Nov. 29."

Santorum, who is from Pennsylvania, is known as a Washington reformer, authoring the 1996 bill that reformed the welfare program and exposing congressional banking and congressional post office scandals, a press release said.

The father of seven championed legislation that outlawed partial birth abortions.

The town hall meeting, which will be held at the Gwinnett Place Marriott, is free and open to the public.

"We hope to host all of the candidates before the GOP primary in March," Thompson said of the crowded GOP field. These forums will take place according to the candidates' extremely busy schedules. We are honored to do this."
