GAB: Walton Animal Guild is Braves grant recipient

LAWRENCEVILLE -- The Gwinnett Braves recently announced that Walton Animal Guild is the recipient of the Gwinnett Braves October 2011 grant, representing organizations that benefit animals.

The $1,000 grant will be used to purchase pet food for the organization's pantry in partnership with Faith in Serving Humanity, a Christian outreach center.

Walton Animal Guild's Pet Food Pantry keeps families together "by helping owners keep their pets happy and well fed."

The organization provides pet food through donations, collections and purchases. Items needed to stock the pantry include canned dog and cat food, dry food, pet treats, cat litter, flea treatment, leashes, collars, feeding bowls and pet toys.

Auditions scheduled for 2012 cheerleading squad

DULUTH -- The Georgia Force Cheerleaders are looking for new talent. The Arena Football League cheerleaders are holding auditions on Nov. 20.

"Throughout the addition process, we'll be looking for the total package," said Joie Ashworth, director of the Georgia Force Cheerleaders.

"That won't necessarily be the best dancer or the most beautiful girl in Atlanta. A Georgia Force Cheerleader should be fun yet intelligent. She should be beautiful but have a great work ethic as a team member."

Preliminary and semifinal audition rounds will be held at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth. Candidates must be 18 years old or older by Nov. 20.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. with auditions starting at 10 a.m. Prospective cheerleaders should bring a $30 non-refundable application fee, a recent photo or snapshot, valid government ID and optional resume. Snack and water also are recommended.

For registration forms, visit www.georgiaforce.com.
