LILBURN -- Gwinnett and Lilburn police are cooperating in an attempt to find a man accused of masturbating in front of at least four young girls selling candy in his apartment complex.
As of Monday evening, jail records showed 36-year-old Hysun Lamar Rowan had not yet been arrested on warrants charging him with multiple counts of child molestation and public indecency. The charges stem from an alleged incident last Wednesday at the Park Crossing Apartments in Lilburn.
According to Gwinnett County police reports, two young girls said they were "selling candy for a dollar" in the apartment complex when they came into contact with Rowan, who was "putting his private part on the wall." An arrest warrant issued by Lilburn police accused Rowan of "pulling his pants down and masterbating (sic)."
"He was following us and we ran away from him because we were scared," one of the alleged victims told police.
The girls originally reported the incident to one of the apartment's leasing agents, who alerted police.
A Gwinnett County police officer encountered Rowan the same day outside his believed residence at the nearby Villas at Indian Trail complex. As the officer approached and questioned the suspect, Rowan reportedly ran into the woods and escaped.
