Hebron Christian will host three ceremonies this week to honor college-bound athletes in softball, baseball and golf.
The Lions' Lyndey McCurry (Queens College) and Amber Walker (King University) have made commitments to college softball programs. They will be honored Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. during a ceremony at the school. McCurry was 19-5 with a 2.42 ERA and 156 strikeouts (in 149 innings) last season, in addition to hitting .389 with 19 RBIs. Walker hit .442 with 17 RBIs last season.
Baseball players Mason Felt (Oregon State) and Jordan Hillyer (Kennesaw State), who led the Lions to the Class A state title as juniors, will be honored Wednesday at noon at Hebron. Felt went 11-1 with a 1.30 ERA last season, striking out 122 batters in 70 innings. Hillyer hit .438 with 14 home runs, 59 RBIs and 14 doubles, in addition to going 7-0 with a save and a 0.86 ERA as a pitcher.
Golfer Darby Gentry, who will sign with Erskine, will have her signing ceremony Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at the high school. Gentry shot 80 to win the Region 8-A title last season.
