Nothing playoff-wise is on the line for Norcross, which is guaranteed the region's No. 3 seed and a first-round matchup at Dacula. But keeping the momentum going is important for the Blue Devils, who broke out of a midseason lull with a huge comeback against Collins Hill. Joseph Wilber, Alvin Kamara and Jason Croom led the offense on five straight scoring drives, turning a 21-7 deficit late in the second quarter into a 42-21 win. The defense forced timely turnovers and held the Eagles in check with solid play from Tanner Maloof, Kristopher Beauchamp, Domonique Mason, Martavius Edwards and Shon Akins.
"This week is about getting better and fine-tuning some things," Norcross head coach Keith Maloof said. Maloof is concerned with Mountain View's running game, particularly backs Marvin Elam and Eddie West. Both of those guys went over the 100-yard mark in last Friday's win over Meadowcreek.
The Bears, though not playoff-eligible, have made great strides in Year 3, including a big upset of rival Mill Creek. They have some momentum on their side, too, which head coach Tim Hardy wants to continue into offseason conditioning. Mountain View has closed the gap on most of its opponents this year and the next test is Norcross, which beat the Bears by 37 points last season.
"We have 12 seniors who are playing their last high school football game this week and we want those guys to finish well and play well at home," Hardy said. "At the same time, we've got a lot of young bucks who want to finish the season on a high note, too."
Last meeting: Norcross won 44-7 last year
