Given what both teams have been through this eason, tonight's season finale could be dubbed the "What If" Bowl.

The visiting Red Devils were just a few inches on fourth down and two points away from keeping their own -- and Apalachee's -- playoff hopes alive in last week's loss to Habersham.

The Wildcats, meanwhile, also can look at what might have been, with four of their losses coming by a combined 24 points.

"I hate that we're at that point," Apalachee coach Shane Davis said. "But there's nothing we can do about what's behind us. It would be big for our seniors to go out having never had a losing season. And for the rest, we can evaluate where we are."

Though it might be too little, too late, the Wildcats are in a pretty good place right now, having won four of their last five games behind the usual Apalachee formula -- strong running, led by sophomore Stanley Williams and juniors Zay Henry and Eric Tanner, plus an improving defense, led by linebacker Austin Goley and defensive back Jeremy Lotts.

The latter should get a stern test from a Loganville offense that is putting up 30 points per game, led by quarterback Garrett Ford, who put up 319 yards of total offense in last week's narrow loss, as well as Jawann Saffold and Bernard Merriweather.

Last meeting: Loganville won 35-10 last year
