GAB: Free career advice, help offered

LAWRENCEVILLE -- A career assistance program is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Lawrenceville Elementary School.

The event, which is free for Lawrenceville residents, will include workshops on interview skills, financial planning, resume building and help with GED/college application and financial aid assistance.

Free childcare will be offered. Parking is in the back of the school, which is located at 122 Gwinnett Drive.

Craft fair and used book sale is Saturday

LAWRENCEVILLE -- St. Edward's Episcopal Church in Lawrenceville has scheduled a craft fair and used book sale for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the church hall.

Free car washes offered for veterans

NORCROSS -- Simoniz Car Wash plans to salute veterans on Nov. 11 by offering them and active military personnel free full service car washes.

Local locations include 7055 Jimmy Carter Blvd., Norcross, and 3850 Lavista Road, Tucker.

The offer applies to any veteran or active military personnel offering proof of service from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Veterans Day.

Local author holds book-signing event

WINDER -- Author CB Skelton of Winder will be signing copies of his book, "A Simple Seller of Noodles: A Memoir" from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at Constance Manor, 70 Church St., Winder.

The book follows the story of how a group of refugees came to live in the town.
